1st Logo
(1983-1988)
Logo: On a black background, we see a purple lined O cut open in the middle with red streaks streaking throughout, which zooms in and turns into numerous squares, revealing downward. Then another purple lined O is zooming in after the squares, and red circles streak. Then after it stops zooming, "CINEPLEX ODEON", above the O, and "HOME VIDEO PRESENTATION" appears below it, cheaply inserted in. It appears like this:
CINEPLEX ODEON
HOME VIDEO
FX: The animation in the logo.

Does anyone know if this animation was also used in Cineplex Odeon Theatres? This definitely seems like an 80s theatre tag ("please enjoy our refreshments...and now, our feature presentation...").

It appears to me like that company was named after Lew Wasserman's infamous movie theater chain, one of the largest of the USA and Canada back in the day
