HBO independient Productions (1991)
Logo: On a white background, we see "IND" surrounded by a red circle, along with "HBO" vertically tilted at its upper left and "productions" at its lower right, following the path of the circle.

FX: None; it's a still logo.

Music/Sounds: TBA

Availability: Rare; was seen on shows of this company by this period.

Scare Factor: Low.

2nd Logo
(1991-2005)
HBO Independent Productions - CLG WikiHBO Independent ProductionsHBO Independent Productions - CLG Wiki

Nicknames: "The (UV) Light", "UV Light of Doom", "Oven of Doom" , "IND II", "HIP"

Logo: We see a wall with a light on top, along with a white board with "IND" surrounded by a red circle, along with "HBO" vertically tilted at its upper left and "productions" at its lower right, following the path of the circle. The byline "a division of Home Box Office" is shown at the bottom left end of the screen, which was added in 1992. Now, to the action: A hand reaches up and pulls a light switch, causing the white area to turn blue, and the logo to glow reddish-purple. The lights are switched off at the end.

Variants:
  • Early on, the logo would cut to a black screen with "A TIME WARNER COMPANY".
  • 1993-1996: "HIP" later took place of "IND", adding "ind" with the word "productions" on the lower right. The byline is now in all-caps, and is moved to the bottom left.
  • 1996-2005: "HIP" was replaced by a red HBO logo surrounded by "INDEPENDENT PRODUCTIONS" with "A TIME WARNER ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY" below.
  • The more common "short" version cuts out the part in which the hand turns on the light.

FX: Mostly live action.

Music/Sounds: A clicking noise, followed by an electric "hissing"-type sound.

Availability: Common. All three versions appears on Martin on TV One and local stations and Roc reruns on TVOne (whenever the network decides to re-air that again), and the version with the HBO logo appears on Everybody Loves Raymond reruns on TBS and in local syndication.

Scare Factor: Medium; it depends on your opinion on the electric sounds.

3rd Logo
(2005- )

Nickname: "The Grass"

Logo: TBA

FX: TBA

Music/Sounds: TBA

Availability: Appeared on Lucky Louie on the HBO networks.

Scare Factor: None.

Since SilverSword calls it the Oven of DOom, I thoguht a great idea for a humorous thread was to theorize as to what's being baked in the Oven of Doom?

My guess? Muffins.

All we need is a screen capture for the "IND" variation of the Oven of Doom!
