Note: This was the first of ITV's generic logos, which varied for each ITV franchise it was shown on.

Nickname: "ITV Generic"

Logo: On a black background, a "river" of colors is seen. Below it is the franchise name in italics and on top of the river is the franchise's logo. The logo wavers and disperses into the river one-by-one as various images of ITV programs fly by from right to left. One by one in the river, the letters "ITV" appear, in sync with the music. The "V" is cut in half and a triangle appears where the other half should be. In the triangle lies part of the franchise's logo. The river fades out.
Variants:
  • Central Television used a variant in which the ITV animation played in the top-right corner of the screen and the Central's CGI Cake logo played in the bottom-left corner simultaneously.
  • On occasion, the default logo would be used, in which there would be no franchise name displayed at the bottom.
  • ITV logos had been developed for use by TVS, Ulster, and Channel Television, but they were never used.

FX: The "River" and the ghost-like appearances of the images.

Cheesy Factor: The wavering of the LWT looks rather fake, but everything else looks clean.

Music/Sounds: A rather airy synthesized flute theme that culminates in a 5-note trumpet fanfare. Composed by David Dundas as an ITV jingle.

Availability: Extinct on television; it was only used as a channel ID. This was actually a generic ITV logo modified by the network to feature the franchise logo. Many ITV companies like Thames used a variation of this logo.
Scare Factor: Low; this is a clean logo.

Nickname
: "TV From The Heart"

Logo: On a blue background with spinning heart panels segmented in three, the franchise logo appears via a Matrix-like "digitizing" effect. A blue border surrounds the logo, and at the bottom of the border in a blue square are the yellow letters "itv".

Variants:
  • On occasion, a default version would be used, in which the ITV logo would only be displayed.
  • There would be some golden panels used in the daytime, and in the nighttime, they would be all blue.
  • Starting in 2001, during the switch to ITV1, the ITV1 logo appears below, which has the "1" inside a yellow square.
  • A short film culminating in the appearance of a heart usually precedes this logo. However, there is a standard animated logo that shows the logo formed by yellow lines.
  • Yorkshire Television uses a variant in which the panels bear its chevron logo instead.
  • Later versions bear the franchise or network's URL at the bottom or bottom-right corner of the screen. The itv.com URL is in white, and has a similar look to the ITV/ITV1 logo.

FX: The spinning hearts and the "digitizing" effect.

Cheesy Factor: The spinning hearts look cheesy.

Music/Sounds: A tense orchestrated fanfare culminating in a five-note piano fanfare. On some rare occasions, a dramatic synth fanfare would be used.

Availability: Extinct in this region, but this is one of ITV's generic logos, and as such appears elsewhere with a different logo (for example: Yorkshire).

Scare Factor: None; a clean (and BORING) logo.
