Background: TSW was the successor of Westward Television. The franchise was eventually lost in 1993, replaced by Westcountry Television.

1st Logo
(1982-1986)


Logo: On a black background, we see an overhead view of a staticky television screen with a red border around it. A blue square comes out of the screen. The square curves and starts to cover the screen as a pink volcano-like thing rises out of the screen. Once the screen is covered, it is now a blue sphere. The sphere splits into 3 and then 6 in a mitosis like effect. The spheres then flip to reveal that they are green hemispheres with a blue interior. The hemispheres then form pairs at various angles (looking a bit like the Sydney Opera House) and move toward the center of the screen. A blue zigzag line appears below them and "TSW" appears below the line.

• There is an abridged version that cuts out the "volcano" part.

FX: The static screen, the blue/green square/spheres/hemispheres, the "volcano". Few people know this, but this is Scanimation and not CGI. Despite it being Scanimation, it is really impressive.

Music/Sounds: A funky synth tune with horns. Sometimes shortened.

Availability: Extinct.

Scare Factor: Low to medium; the animation and music can catch a few off-guard, but this logo is a favorite.

Logo: On a fading sky background, 3 pairs of green semicircles (same design as the first logo) flip from the bottom of the screen into 2D at the middle of the screen. The blue zigzag line comes with them and flips back into its normal place as the 3D letters "T", "S", and "W" appear from the top of the screen and spin a little as they go to their normal place.

FX: The pairs of semicircles, blue line, and letters flipping, which are all CGI.

Music/Sounds: A calm horn fanfare.

Availability: Extinct.

Scare Factor: None; a fitting end to this short-lived franchise.
